What it's studied for

What TB-500 is studied for

TB-500 borrows the active region of thymosin beta-4, one of the most abundant repair proteins in the body. The research is early and mostly preclinical.

  1. 01

    Soft-tissue recovery

Thymosin beta-4 has been studied in animal models of muscle, skin and connective-tissue repair, where it appears to help repair cells reach damaged areas.

  2. 02

    Flexibility and range of motion

Because it's involved in how cells move and remodel tissue, TB-500 is often used in protocols aimed at mobility and stiffness after training.

  3. 03

    A calmer recovery response

Animal studies suggest thymosin beta-4 can help regulate inflammatory signaling after tissue stress.

  4. 04

    Fewer injections

TB-500 protocols commonly use fewer injections per week than many other peptides. Your physician sets the schedule.

The science

How TB-500 works

Thymosin beta-4 is present in nearly every cell. It manages actin, the protein scaffolding cells use to change shape and move.

  1. 01

It's the business end of a repair protein.

TB-500 is a short synthetic copy of the region of thymosin beta-4 that binds actin, the part researchers believe drives much of its activity.

  2. 02

    It helps cells move.

By managing the actin inside cells, thymosin beta-4 influences how repair cells migrate into damaged tissue and how new blood vessels form.

  3. 03

    It works system-wide.

Unlike a local treatment, TB-500 is injected under the skin and circulates, which is why it's used for general recovery goals rather than one spot.

What the research says

We summarize the published research as it stands, including what isn't known yet.

Evidence: Preclinical

  1. Lab & animal studies
  2. Early human studies
  3. Large clinical trials

What's been studied

  • Animal and lab studies of thymosin beta-4 in muscle, skin, heart and eye repair
  • Human studies of the full thymosin beta-4 protein in eye and skin-wound settings
  • Very little published human research on the TB-500 fragment itself

What we don't know yet

  • Whether results with the full protein apply to the TB-500 fragment
  • The best human dose, schedule and length of use
  • Long-term safety in people

Research summaries are for education, not a promise of results. TB-500 is a compounded medication and is not FDA-approved. Your physician will talk you through what to realistically expect.

How it's used

Using TB-500.

Your physician sets your dose, schedule and how long you take it. Here's what a typical protocol looks like.

Injection

Subcutaneous injection

A small subcutaneous injection under the skin of the belly or thigh, with a fine insulin needle.

Typical protocol

Protocols commonly start with one or two injections a week for several weeks, then taper. Your physician sets your dose and schedule.

In your package

  • Your prescribed peptide, compounded by a licensed US pharmacy
  • Sterile insulin syringes and alcohol prep pads
  • Step-by-step preparation, storage and injection instructions

May be a fit if you're

  • Active adults who train hard and want physician-guided recovery support
  • People focused on mobility and stiffness, alongside stretching and strength work
  • People already using BPC-157 who want a system-wide recovery peptide

Not a fit if you're

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Active cancer or a history of cancer
  • Under 18
  • Athletes subject to WADA drug testing

Not a complete list. Your physician reviews your full health history.

Questions

Good questions.

Straight answers about TB-500.

How much does it cost?

BPC-157 injections and TB-500 are $149 a month and MOTS-c is $199 a month; pricing for the other peptides will be announced at launch. Peptides aren't available to order yet: join the waitlist and we'll email you when your visit opens. Shipping is free and there's no insurance needed.

What's the difference between TB-500 and thymosin beta-4?

Thymosin beta-4 is a 43-amino-acid protein your cells make. TB-500 is a short synthetic peptide that copies the region of thymosin beta-4 thought to drive its repair activity. Much of the published research is on the full protein, not the fragment.

Is TB-500 FDA-approved?

No. TB-500 is a compounded medication: it's prepared for you, from a prescription, by a licensed US pharmacy. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, which means the FDA hasn't reviewed them for safety or effectiveness. That's why a licensed physician reviews your health history before anything is prescribed.

How often do I inject?

TB-500 protocols commonly use one or two subcutaneous injections a week, sometimes with a higher starting phase that tapers. Your physician sets your exact dose and schedule.

What are the side effects?

Reported side effects are usually mild: injection-site redness or irritation, temporary tiredness, headache or a flushed feeling. Human safety data are limited, so your physician will check in and adjust or stop your protocol if needed.

Can I take TB-500 with BPC-157?

Yes, they're often prescribed together in recovery protocols. Your physician decides whether a combined protocol is appropriate for you.

I compete in a tested sport. Can I use it?

TB-500 is prohibited under the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) code, in and out of competition. If you're subject to drug testing in your sport, don't use it, and tell your physician during your visit.

How is this different from peptides sold online for "research use only"?

Websites selling peptides "for research use only" aren't pharmacies. There's no prescription, no physician and no assurance of what's actually in the vial. Your peptide is prescribed by a licensed physician after a medical review and prepared by a licensed US compounding pharmacy.

Important safety information

TB-500 safety

Not for use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have active cancer or a history of cancer, or are under 18. Prohibited in WADA-tested sport.

TB-500 is a synthetic peptide fragment of thymosin beta-4. Research on it is mostly preclinical, and long-term safety in people has not been established.

Possible side effects may include: injection-site redness, irritation or bruising, temporary fatigue, headache, and flushing.

Contraindications: TB-500 may not be appropriate if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding; have an active cancer or a history of cancer (because thymosin beta-4 influences cell migration and blood-vessel growth); are under 18; or have a known allergy to any component.

Athletes: TB-500 and other thymosin beta-4 derivatives are prohibited at all times under the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) code.

This therapy should only be used under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider. Tell your physician about every medication and supplement you take.
