What it's studied for

What BPC-157 is studied for

BPC-157 is one of the most-researched peptides in sports and recovery medicine. Most of that work is in animal models, so think of these as research directions, not promises.

  1. 01

    Tendon and ligament repair

Lab and animal studies have looked at how BPC-157 affects the cells that rebuild tendons and ligaments, which heal slowly because they have little blood supply.

  2. 02

    Muscle recovery

Researchers have studied BPC-157 in models of muscle strain and injury, looking at how quickly damaged tissue recovers.

  3. 03

    Gut-lining integrity

BPC-157 is unusually stable in stomach acid, and much of the early research focused on the lining of the stomach and intestines. That's why it's also offered as an oral capsule.

  4. 04

    Your choice of form

Injections are typically chosen for musculoskeletal recovery goals; capsules are a needle-free option often chosen for gut-focused goals. Your physician helps you pick.

The science

How BPC-157 works

BPC-157 doesn't replace anything your body makes. Researchers think it nudges the repair processes already underway at stressed or injured tissue.

  1. 01

    It's a fragment of a gut protein.

BPC stands for Body Protection Compound. The 15-amino-acid sequence comes from a larger protein found in human gastric juice, which helps explain its stability by mouth.

  2. 02

It's linked to new blood-vessel growth.

In animal studies, BPC-157 appears to support angiogenesis, the growth of small blood vessels that bring oxygen and nutrients to healing tissue.

  3. 03

    It talks to repair cells.

Lab studies suggest it encourages fibroblasts, the cells that lay down new tendon and ligament fibers, to migrate and multiply, and that it interacts with nitric-oxide signaling.

What the research says

We summarize the published research as it stands, including what isn't known yet.

Evidence: Preclinical + early human

  1. Lab & animal studies
  2. Early human studies
  3. Large clinical trials

What's been studied

  • Dozens of animal studies on tendon, ligament, muscle and bone repair
  • Animal studies on the stomach and intestinal lining
  • A handful of small human studies and case series, mostly on joint pain and safety

What we don't know yet

  • No large, controlled human trials yet
  • The best human dose and length of use haven't been established
  • Long-term safety in people is still being studied

Research summaries are for education, not a promise of results. BPC-157 is a compounded medication and is not FDA-approved. Your physician will talk you through what to realistically expect.

How it's used

Two ways to take BPC-157.

Your physician sets your dose, schedule and how long you take it. Here's what a typical protocol looks like.

Injection

Subcutaneous injection

A small subcutaneous injection under the skin of the belly or thigh, with a fine insulin needle. Most people learn it in minutes.

Typical protocol

Protocols are commonly daily for several weeks, then a break. Your physician sets your dose, schedule and cycle length.

In your package

  • Your prescribed peptide, compounded by a licensed US pharmacy
  • Sterile insulin syringes and alcohol prep pads
  • Step-by-step preparation, storage and injection instructions

Capsules

Oral capsule

An oral capsule, swallowed with water. No needles, no mixing.

Typical protocol

Commonly taken daily for a set course. Your physician sets your dose and how long to take it.

In your package

  • A bottle of BPC-157 capsules, compounded by a licensed US pharmacy
  • Dosing and storage instructions

May be a fit if you're

  • Active adults who want physician-guided recovery support
  • People with nagging training or overuse aches who are also doing the basics: rest, rehab, sleep
  • People with gut-comfort goals who prefer a needle-free capsule

Not a fit if you're

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Active cancer or a history of cancer
  • Under 18
  • Athletes subject to WADA drug testing

Not a complete list. Your physician reviews your full health history.

Questions

Good questions.

Straight answers about BPC-157.

How much does it cost?

BPC-157 injections and TB-500 are $149 a month and MOTS-c is $199 a month; pricing for the other peptides will be announced at launch. Peptides aren't available to order yet: join the waitlist and we'll email you when your visit opens. Shipping is free and there's no insurance needed.

Should I choose the injection or the capsules?

Injections are typically chosen for tendon, ligament and muscle recovery goals. Capsules are a needle-free option and are often chosen for gut-focused goals, because BPC-157 is stable in stomach acid. Tell us your goals in your visit and your physician will recommend the form that fits.

Is BPC-157 FDA-approved?

No. BPC-157 is a compounded medication: it's prepared for you, from a prescription, by a licensed US pharmacy. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, which means the FDA hasn't reviewed them for safety or effectiveness. That's why a licensed physician reviews your health history before anything is prescribed.

Does the injection hurt?

Subcutaneous injections use a very fine, short insulin needle placed just under the skin, usually on the belly. Most people describe a brief pinch. Your kit includes step-by-step instructions.

What are the side effects?

Reported side effects are usually mild: redness or itching at the injection site, nausea, dizziness or headache. Because human research is limited, your physician will check in with you and adjust or stop your protocol if needed.

When might I notice a difference?

Everyone responds differently, and research hasn't established a typical timeline in people. BPC-157 works best alongside the basics: sleep, sensible training loads and any rehab your clinician recommends.

I compete in a tested sport. Can I use it?

BPC-157 is prohibited under the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) code, in and out of competition. If you're subject to drug testing in your sport, don't use it, and tell your physician during your visit.

How is this different from peptides sold online for "research use only"?

Websites selling peptides "for research use only" aren't pharmacies. There's no prescription, no physician and no assurance of what's actually in the vial. Your peptide is prescribed by a licensed physician after a medical review and prepared by a licensed US compounding pharmacy.
