Chapter 05 · Restore

Gut and skin calm

What it's studied for

What KPV is studied for

KPV is the smallest peptide we offer: just three amino acids. The research is promising but early, and almost all of it is in lab and animal models.

  1. 01

    Gut comfort

In animal models of gut inflammation, KPV taken by mouth was studied for how it calms inflammatory signaling in the lining of the intestine.

  2. 02

    Skin calm

Lab and animal studies have looked at KPV's effect on inflammatory signals in skin cells and on wound healing.

  3. 03

    Needle-free

KPV is small enough to be absorbed in the gut, so it's prescribed as an oral tablet. No syringes, no mixing.

  4. 04

    No tanning effect

KPV comes from alpha-MSH, the hormone behind tanning, but this fragment doesn't act on the pigment receptor, so it isn't expected to change skin color.

The science

How KPV works

Alpha-MSH is a hormone your body makes to keep inflammation in check. KPV is the three-amino-acid tail of that hormone, and it seems to carry much of the calming effect.

  1. 01

It's a tiny piece of a calming hormone.

KPV is lysine-proline-valine, the last three amino acids of alpha-MSH (alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone).

  2. 02

    It gets inside gut cells.

Research suggests KPV is carried into intestinal cells by a transporter called PepT1, which is more active when the gut lining is inflamed.

  3. 03

    It quiets inflammatory signaling.

Inside cells, KPV appears to dampen NF-κB, a central switch that turns on inflammatory signals.

What the research says

We summarize the published research as it stands, including what isn't known yet.

Evidence: Preclinical

  1. Lab & animal studies
  2. Early human studies
  3. Large clinical trials

What's been studied

  • Mouse models of intestinal inflammation, with KPV given by mouth
  • Lab studies on gut and skin cells
  • Animal studies on skin inflammation and wound healing

What we don't know yet

  • No published controlled trials in people yet
  • The best human dose and how long to take it
  • Long-term safety in people

Research summaries are for education, not a promise of results. KPV is a compounded medication and is not FDA-approved. Your physician will talk you through what to realistically expect.

Questions

Good questions.

Straight answers about KPV.

How much does it cost?

BPC-157 injections and TB-500 are $149 a month and MOTS-c is $199 a month; pricing for the other peptides will be announced at launch. Peptides aren't available to order yet: join the waitlist and we'll email you when your visit opens. Shipping is free and there's no insurance needed.

Is KPV a treatment for IBD or other gut conditions?

No. KPV is studied for calming inflammatory signaling, but it isn't a treatment for inflammatory bowel disease or any other condition. If you have a diagnosed gut condition, keep working with your gastroenterologist and tell your physician in your visit.

Is KPV FDA-approved?

No. KPV is a compounded medication: it's prepared for you, from a prescription, by a licensed US pharmacy. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, which means the FDA hasn't reviewed them for safety or effectiveness. That's why a licensed physician reviews your health history before anything is prescribed.

How do I take it?

KPV is an oral tablet. Your physician sets your dose and how long to take it, and your package includes dosing and storage instructions.

What are the side effects?

KPV is generally reported to be well tolerated. Possible side effects include mild stomach upset or headache. Because human data are limited, your physician will check in and adjust or stop your protocol if needed.

Will KPV change my skin color?

It isn't expected to. KPV comes from alpha-MSH, the hormone involved in tanning, but research suggests this small fragment doesn't act on the pigment receptor.

How is this different from peptides sold online for "research use only"?

Websites selling peptides "for research use only" aren't pharmacies. There's no prescription, no physician and no assurance of what's actually in the vial. Your peptide is prescribed by a licensed physician after a medical review and prepared by a licensed US compounding pharmacy.
